Rules of Golf

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf approved by the United States Golf Association. All questions will be settled by The Ohio Junior Tour Committee, whose decisions will be final. All members will be required to pass a rules test prior to tournament registration.

Pace of Play

Officials will administer the pace of play. Every effort should be made for each group of three to finish in less than 4 hours and 15 minutes. Players will be given written pace of play regulations at every tournament. These exact regulations, times, and penalties are according to the USGA Rules of Golf, given to make the player aware of his/her obligation to the pace.

Tee Times

Tee times will be established prior to the events and made available to you ONLY on our website. As stated in Rule 6, it is the players responsibility to know the conditions under which the competition is to be played and that includes being at the tee and ready to play at your starting time. If you arrive within 5 minutes of your designated starting time you may play with a two stroke penalty. Arriving more than 5 minutes after your established time will result in disqualification. The Ohio Junior Tour  reserves the right to adjust your tee time by 16 minutes without notification, any more than 16 minutes and you will be notified.

Golf Carts or Caddies

The use of powered Golf carts or caddies are prohibited by all players and Spectators. There are no exceptions to this rule. Pulls carts may be used but are the sole responsibility of the competitor.

Parent & Spectator Guidelines

Parents and spectators are welcome at all events. However, contestants and spectators (which includes parents) are reminded of Rule 8 concerning advice that carries with it a 2 stroke penalty. For this reason, all spectators are required to stay at least 30 yards from the contestants at all times. We ask that you please follow in front of the players so that you are not in range of the group behind you and can help spot balls for the group you are following. However, while helping to look for lost balls the no communication policy is still in affect. Talking with the contestant is NOT permitted on the course at any time. First offense is a two stroke penalty; second offense is disqualification. There is no warning; the warning is the Spectators’ Notice the competitor will receive at each event.  Please refrain from using cellular phone and beepers while on the golf course.

Inclement Weather

Any sign of lightening should be reported to an official immediately. It is the official’s responsibility to suspend play with two short horn blasts and resume play with one long sustained blast. Play must be suspended immediately. Mark your golf ball and take shelter. It is our intention to complete an event on the day it is scheduled, we will, therefore, do everything possible to complete a tournament, including reducing the number of holes in a stipulated round. A stipulated round, defined by The Ohio Junior Tour is the last hole that everyone in the age division has completed. All players failing to restart after the delay will be disqualified.

Awards

Top-Three: The top three finishers in each age division will receive an award immediately following the completion of their age division at each event. Year-end awards are given out at the Awards Banquet, which follows the Championship event. Reservation forms for the banquet will be made available later in the season. The following awards are given out annually:

Player of the Year: The person in each age division who accumulates the most points during a season. Points are awarded to the top 10 finishers at an event. Ties: For a one-day event, 1st place ties will be decided by a sudden death playoff. All other ties will be decided by USGA recommended scorecard playoff.  For the two-day Championship event, 1st place ties will be decided by a sudden death playoff. All other ties will be determined by the low score from the 2nd day and if needed USGA recommended scorecard playoff from the 2nd round until there is a winner.
